It is so amazing to me how well Landry is growing and developing despite all of his kidney issues. At his four month checkup on Monday, he weighed 16 pounds 7 ounces and was 26 and a half inches long. The pediatrician said his development is that of a six month old. He can sit up supported, grab his feet lying down, roll over both ways, and while on his tummy he can raise his head 90 degrees while supporting himself on his hands! And if all that isn't enough, he loves to stand and looks like he could crawl very soon!
In the last week, he has been very interested in the food we are eating and his formula definitely seems like it isn't enough for him. The doctor gave us the green light to start fruits and vegetables since he was already getting cereal in the evening. Now, he gets cereal with fruit in the morning and a vegetable with his cereal in the evening. I'm sure this will definitely add to his growth at our next visit.
While you would never be able to look at Landry and tell that he has any medical issues, his kidney function still seems to be a problem even after his surgery. We saw a pediatric nephrologist at Duke last week and his creatinine is still high and his urologist would have expected it to return close to normal by this time. In additon, he continues to have high blood pressure. They don't want to medicate yet but will do more labs at the end of the month. If the creatinine is still high then they will monitor him more closely and look deeper into his blood chemistry. We also have an ultrasound scheduled for the middle of the month to see see if his kidneys are continuing to grow. One of the great things about being so close to Duke and UNC is the research they are doing. In fact, his nephrologist has just begun a study trying to identify a genetic link to urinary reflux and is really interested in Landry's case. We sure have many appointments to keep for Landry but hopefully, we will start getting some good news!

Picnic at the Park
Easter
We had a great Easter this year. Mariella wasn't afraid of the Easter Bunny like last year and we got a great picture of Landry and Mariella on his lap! She left a bowl of carrots for the Easter Bunny outside our front door to make sure that he came to our house and when she got up on Easter morning she went right to the front door to see if her basket was there. She loved the Disney Princess gardening gloves, watering can, kite and movie that was left for her. She also enjoyed the candy for days to come. In fact, she would hide out in her room sneaking candy from the eggs she found :)

It's Official: I'm a stay at home mom!
We finally heard back from my school and I am now unemployed! I resigned effective April 25th and there won't be any penalties for breaking my contract....phew! Unfortunately, we can't afford for Mariella to continue going to Chesterbrook for preschool so we took these pictures on her last day of school which was also their Easter party. Mariella and I will miss her teachers and friends dearly and her poor teachers cried too!
